Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah yesterday issued strict instructions to Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Chief Executive Officers (CEO) of Zilla Panchayats to focus on 100 per cent implementation of all Government schemes within the end of this financial year (March 2018).
Addressing a conference of DCs, ZP CEOs and Heads of Government Departments, the CM sought to remind them that the State Assembly elections was likely to be held in April or May 2018.
Urging the officers to ensure that none of the budgetary programmes remained unimplemented, he asked them to lay emphasis on clearing government land of encroachments.
Directing the Deputy Commissioners to follow the Bengaluru model of cleaning encroachments, the Chief Minister noted that recovered Government land could be used for providing civic amenities such as building anganawadis, community hall and hostels or earmarking for burial grounds.
The CM also instructed the DCs and CEOs to submit a report to the Government within a month on the extent of revenue land, tanks, gomala land and other Government land in their jurisdiction.
The other priority areas enlisted include setting up and properly managing Indira canteens, providing BPL ration cards and possession certificates and distribution of sites and houses to dalit families.
Siddharamaiah reiterated that the Government has decided to set up 247 Indira canteens from Jan. 1 in all district headquarters and taluk centres.
