Mysore/Mysuru: Dasara Poets Meet Sub-Committee has organised a five-day Poets Meet from Sept. 23 to 27 in city. As part of the Poets Meet, a variety of sessions have been organised — Regional and Main Poets Meet — for which the applications have been invited from the poets.
According to Working President of Dasara Poets Meet Sub-Committee, for the Regional Poets Meet, poets only from Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajanagar and Madikeri are eligible to apply. They should have published at least one anthology of poems. While for the Main Poets Meet, one poet from each of the district from across the State are eligible to apply and should have published at least two anthology of poems, compulsorily in Kannada.
Those poets, who haven’t participated in Dasara Poets Meet for the last two years, may directly submit their bio-data and copies of anthology of poems, to the Working President, Dasara Poets Meet Sub-Committee, Mysuru or Director, Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS), Manasagangothri,Mysuru- 570006 or via registered post before 5 pm on Aug. 28.
The decision of Selection Committee will be final. Applications received after the scheduled date will not be accepted.

Cultural events
Dasara Cultural Sub-Committee too has invited applications from the artistes and art troupes of different art forms, for cultural programmes from Sept. 22 to 30 at Palace and other venues in city. Applications may be directly submitted or through post to the Office of Assistant Director, Kannada and Culture Department, Karnataka Kalamandira, Vinobha Road, Mysuru-570005. Flower Show and Rangoli contests
The District Horticulture Society, in association with the Horticulture Department has started registration for Dasara Flower Show and Rangoli contests. Flower Show is scheduled to take place at Kuppanna Park in city from Sept. 22 to Oct. 2.
Interested house owners, Industrial Units, Government Departments maintained parks, Associations and organisations, Guest Houses, Private Hotels, Apartments and the like, can register at the District Horticulture Society.
The registration for ornamental garden show is open till Aug. 30 (contact Mob: 99012 -26241). Registration for chukki rangoli, pushpa (flower) rangoli, vegetable carving, Ikebana and painting contests and the registration for essay contest organised as part of Gandhi Jayanti, will be open from Sept. 15 to 20 (contact Mob: 96207-90889).
The registration for flower garden landscape is open till Aug. 30 (Mob: 96113-64018).
