A veena contest has been organised in memory of Veena Maestro Ganakala Bhushana Vid. M. J. Sreenivasa Iyengar (MJS) on May 14 from 9 am at Chokkamma Hall of Ganabharathi in Kuvempunagar.
The contest intends to spot and promote young talents.
Eligibility: Age limit for the entrants is 25 years. Participants will be given 45 minutes for their rendition. In case the number of participants is more, it will be reduced to 30 minutes.
Mridangam accompaniment will be provided locally. The participants should render a varna in adi tala in two speeds. They are expected to present a composition with ragalapana, neraval and kalpana swaras.
Three cash prizes will be given — first prize is Rs. 8,000 while second and third are Rs. 5,000 and 3,000 respectively.
