Mysore/Mysuru: EPS (Employees Pension Scheme) pensioners, under the banner of EPS-95 Rashtriya Sangarsh Samiti, staged a demonstration in front of the office of MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar in CADA office premises here recently, demanding a minimum pension of Rs. 7,500 and a hike in benefits in accordance with inflation.
Maintaining that the recommendations of the Koshiyari Committee on EPS Reforms tabled in the Rajya Sabha in 2013 has not yet been passed, the protesters alleged that the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment has given false and incomplete information regarding shortage of funds under EPS-95 pension scheme.
“The authorities have not applied EPS-95 pension benefits to over 81 lakh EPS pensioners. Most of the pensioners under the scheme have completed more than 30 years of service and in this period they have contributed their share amounting to lakhs of rupees to the EPS fund. As EPS-95 is a social welfare initiative, the Union Government should announce more grants to EPS fund in the forthcoming Budget in order to bring about stability in the EPS system”, they urged.
The Committee office-bearers Shadakshari, Syed Mohammad, Srikanta Prasad, Mahadev and others took part in the demo.
