Sir,
Apropos the news item “MCC pulls up its socks ahead of Vice-President’s visit: Clean roads” (SOM dated July 12), we should congratulate MCC for attending to the road repairs en-route the Vice-President’s convoy movement, thus making it motorable for the public also.
Some road humps like the one at the junction of Hunsur Road and Gokulam Road has been levelled for the smooth travel of our Vice-President.
The junction of Hunsur Road and Gokulam Road has a very high density of vehicular movement and by removing the road hump, now it will be very difficult for the motorists from Gokulam Road to turn right and enter Hunsur Road.
Instead of fixing road humps, which need to be flattened when a VVIP visits our city, it is better for the MCC and City Traffic Police to erect movable metal barricades at the junctions to make the vehicles slow down. Since these metal barricades can be easily re-located during the visit of VVIPs, even the expenses incurred for constructing and flattening of the road humps can be saved.
The authorities concerned should ensure that the metal barricades have proper reflecting stickers, enabling easy identification of the barricades from a distance during night hours, ensuring safety of the motorists.
