Bengaluru: A Special People’s Representatives Court remanded former Minister and MLA B. Nagendra to 14-day judicial custody in connection with the alleged irregularities in the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation Limited here yesterday. Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials produced MLA Nagendra before their custody ended on Monday.
The Special Court Judge Santosh Gajanana Bhat, who heard the case, remanded MLA Nagendra to judicial custody till Aug. 3.
Nagendra’s Advocates informed the Court that the MLA, who was suffering from heart-related ailments, has to be treated following which the Court remanded him to judicial custody.
Meanwhile, the ED had also requested the Court to extend Nagendra’s custody stating that he played a vital role in the alleged illegal transfer of money and needed to be questioned further.
It is also learnt that the ED was also preparing to issue notices to the Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka and the Secretary, Government of Karnataka.
Based on the information provided by the Corporation officials, who are in ED’s custody and MLA B. Nagendra, the ED has decided to question the officials in connection with the case.
