Ex-President of Kodagu Growers’ Federation passes away

October 1, 2021

Madikeri: Ajjamada Shankaru Nachappa, a resident of Kurchi village in Kodagu District, passed away in Mysuru on Thursday. He was 78.

He was the past President of Kodagu Growers’ Federation and was active in various forums that concerned the coffee grower.

He leaves behind his wife and three daughters. Last rites were performed at Kurchi village yesterday afternoon.

Shankaru Nachappa was instrumental in getting thousands of coffee growers compensation from the Government as excessive rains had damaged the crops extensively. He took the path of confrontation and succeeded in his mission.

He had served as the Vice-President and President of Kodagu Growers’ Federation for over 20 years and as a coffee grower himself, he had innate knowledge about how the sector works and what has to be done for its revival.

Condoled: The office-bearers of many Associations including Kodagu Growers’ Federation and Kodavamera Kondata have condoled his death.
