Mysore/Mysuru: Seeking fulfilment of their long-pending demands, Ex-servicemen, under the banner of Akhila Karnataka Ex-servicemen Association, will launch a Vidhana Soudha Chalo followed by a day and night stir at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Sept.12 and 13.
Addressing a press meet here on Thursday, Association’s District President K.P. Diwakar said that the demands include issuance of title deeds for lands sanctioned for Ex-servicemen, hike in Government job reservation for Ex-servicemen, formation of a Corporation for the welfare of Ex-servicemen, among others.
Stating that while some ex-servicemen were allotted lands by the Government years ago, several others are still waiting for lands for years, he said adding that those allotted farm lands are yet to get tilling rights, which is a cause of concern.
Urging the Government to construct Community Halls for ex-servicemen, he wanted the Government to announce Rs.1 crore compensation to the families of martyred soldiers.
Maintaining that the Vidhana Soudha Chalo and the subsequent dharna at Freedom Park is to draw the attention of the Government to their problems, he warned of intensifying the stir if the demands are not seriously considered.
Association office-bearers H.S. Nanjundaswamy, Annegowda, Rajani Subbaiah and Nataraj were present at the press meet.
