Laptop, mobile phone worth Rs. 45,000 recovered
Mysore/Mysuru: Udayagiri Police have arrested two extortionists on charges of forcibly taking away a mobile phone and a laptop from two persons after threatening them with a knife and have recovered the cell phone and the laptop besides seizing a two-wheeler used for the crime.
The arrested are 20-year-old Mohammed Zameer of Kalyangirinagar and 21-year-old Shoaib Akthar of Raghavendra Layout in city.
The accused, on Nov. 13, had forcibly taken away a Moto G Plus cell phone of one Shrirag by threatening him with a knife, when he (Shrirag) was plucking flowers near his house at Shakthinagar and on the same day at about 6 pm, one of the accused had barged into the house of one Mohammed Jawad and had threatened him (Jawad) to give him Rs. 10,000 cash. When Jawad refused to oblige, the accused had forcibly taken away a Lenovo laptop from the house after threatening Jawad with a knife. Both the victims had lodged complaint at Udayagiri Police Station.
Udayagiri Police, who had registered cases, took up the investigation and on Nov. 17, arrested both the accused, while they were trying to sell the stolen cell phone and the laptop near Madegowda Circle at Rajivnagar and recovered the stolen properties worth Rs. 45,000 from them. The Police also seized the knife and the two-wheeler used for the crime.
DCP M.S. Geetha Prasanna and Devaraja Sub-Division ACP M.N. Shashidhar supervised Udayagiri Inspector N.M. Poonacha, SIs M. Jayakeerthi and Nataraj, ASI Diwakar and staff M. Shankar, Siddiq Ahmed, Mohan Kumar, Krishna, Shivarajappa and Malathi in the nabbing and recovery operation, according to a press release.
