Failing to achieve IAS dream, Bank Manager ends life

Mandya: Unable to achieve her aim of becoming an IAS Officer, a 30-year-old woman, working as a Manager at Kaveri Grameena Bank (now Karnataka Gramin Bank) Regional Office in Mandya, committed suicide by hanging self at her rented house in Mandya.

The deceased is Shruthi, daughter of Mallappa of  Kollegal.

Shruthi, who had served in the Bank at Chikkamagalur branch since seven years was serving at the Regional Office in Mandya since two months and was residing alone at the rented house in Vinayaka Layout, Mandya.

It is learnt that, depressed over not becoming an IAS Officer, Shruthi took the extreme step.

A spinster, Shruthi had called her father over phone at about 7 pm yesterday and informed him that she was ending her life and sought his forgiveness before disconnecting the call.

Shocked father called her  back immediately, but her phone was switched off following which he informed his relatives in Mandya.

By the time the relatives reached the house of Shrithi, she had ended her life, leaving behind a death note.

Mandya Rural Police, who have registered a case, are  investigating.
