Farm lands given to Waqf during BJP, JD(S) rule: CM

B.Y. Vijayendra seeks Gazette notification on withdrawal of notices issued by Waqf Board to farmers

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sharply criticised the Opposition for its outcry regarding the transfer of farmlands to the Waqf Board, asserting that such transfers occurred during the tenures of former Chief Ministers B.S. Yediyurappa, Jagadish Shettar, and H.D. Kumaraswamy.

In a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), Siddaramaiah promised to release documents demonstrating that these land transfers took place under the leadership of these BJP and JD(S) leaders, suggesting that the opposition is engaging in double talk.

He warned that opposition leaders would face consequences for their actions and should be prepared for it.

In response to an invitation from State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra for a public debate on the issue and other administrative matters, Siddaramaiah challenged Vijayendra to first address the concerns raised by rebel BJP leaders like Basanagouda Patil and Ramesh Jarkiholi about                                            his leadership before engaging in a debate.

On State response

Rebutting Siddaramaiah’s claims about the withdrawal of notices issued by the Waqf Board to farmers regarding land ownership, Vijayendra questioned why the Government has not issued a Gazette Notification addressing this matter.

In a tweet on X, he expressed concern that the Pahani certificates still designate the lands as belonging to the Waqf Board, implying ongoing confusion under Congress rule.

Vijayendra pointed out the inconsistency in the administration’s actions, noting that farmers who have cultivated their lands for decades are now  receiving notices.

He stated that the CM’s assurances of withdrawal are hard for farmers to believe.

Furthermore, Vijayendra accused Siddaramaiah of evading direct answers to his inquiries regarding the government’s failure to address public issues and development concerns.

Highlighting alleged corruption scandals involving MUDA and the Valmiki Development Corporation, Vijayendra insisted that Court rulings in these cases vindicate the BJP’s position.

Extermination of Minister Zameer

In Chitradurga, Vijayendra demanded the externment of Waqf and Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan, accusing him of inciting communal disturbances through his “senseless utterances and deeds.”

Vijayendra alleged that the Waqf Board, acting under Zameer Ahmed Khan’s influence, is involved in a conspiracy to seize agricultural lands by issuing false notices to farmers, claiming these lands as                                                     Waqf property.

He condemned Zameer’s communal remarks and actions, which he claimed have frequently led to heightened communal tensions. Vijayendra insisted that for the sake of peace in the State, Zameer, a controversial figure, must be removed from his position.
