Periyapatna: A farmer, who was indulged in watering the crops at a field, died after being bitten by a venomous snake yesterday morning.

The deceased farmer has been identified as Ravi (33), a native of Kunturu Mole in Kollegal taluk, who was cultivating the agricultural land at his wife’s place in Chikkamagali village and residing there.

Farmers working in the neighbouring fields, who heard Ravi screaming, rushed to his aid and brought him to Periyapatna General Hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead.

The body of Ravi was shifted to the mortuary where post-mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to his family members.

Meanwhile, Ravi’s wife Bhagya has registered a complaint at the Town Police Station.

Snake Shyam rescues snake from a bike’s headlight dome: Mysuru’s well-known snake rescuer and wildlife conservationist Snake Shyam, has rescued a Cobra which was hiding inside the headlight dome of a bike in Vijayanagar 1st Stage in Mysuru yesterday.

Labourers, who were working at an under-construction building, saw the snake going inside the headlight dome of a bike and informed Snake Shyam, who rushed to the spot and rescued the Cobra, sending a sigh of relief among the labourers.

Shyam said that the snake was released into its habitat far from the city.
