Farmer pays a heavy price for CM’s development works

Bylakuppe: Standing crops have been destroyed by some “overenthusiastic” officials at Periyapatna to make way for Chief Minister Siddharamaiah who is coming to a village to launch a development project.

Farmer Nagaraju of Mutthina Mullusoge village in Periyapatna taluk has alleged that the officials brought a JCB to level the fields that had healthy standing crops to construct a road.

He alleged that he had grown black-eyed beans, green gram, urad dal and sesame in his three-acre and 33 guntas land on Survey No. 54(P) 1, near Chowdeshwari Temple in Mutthina Mullusoge village.  “The officials destroyed all my crops using a JCB to make a road for the CM who is coming here this month-end to perform guddali puja for a project to fill 133 lakes and 17 ponds with Cauvery water,” he said. “They did not even have the courtesy to even inform me that the road had to be made,” he said.

Nagaraju said that he belonged to the backward class and had taken loans  and had grown the crops which are destroyed now. He has asked the officials to immediately stop constructing the road and demanded compensation.
