Mysuru: Condemning the State Government’s action of releasing water to Tamil Nadu from KRS and Kabini dams, more than 50 farmers under the banner of Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers Association staged a protest in front of CADA office on Sayyaji Rao road here yesterday morning.

Accusing the Government of failing to protect the interests of the State farmers, the protestors questioned the motive behind the release of water to Tamil Nadu, when KRS and Kabini canals have dried up due to non-release of water from the dams.

They urged the Government to immediately stop release of water to Tamil Nadu and release water to canals and thus save the distraught farmers.

Association President Kurubur Shantakumar, office-bearers Attahalli Devaraj, Kiragasur Shankar and others took part in the protest.
