Mandya: Strongly opposing the three farm laws recently introduced by the Centre, farmer associations of the State will block National Highways (Rasta Roko) across the State on Nov.26, marking the first anniversary of farmer’s stir near the Delhi border demanding withdrawal of the farm laws.
Announcing this at a press meet at Mandya recently, KRRS President Badagalapura Nagendra said that the three farm laws, the amendments to Electricity Act and the introduction of four Labour Codes were detrimental to the interests of the people of the country at large.
Pointing out that farmers have been agitating for a year near the Delhi border seeking withdrawal of the farm laws, which sound a death knell for the farming community, Nagendra said that the Highway blockade will be carried out with support from 42 like-minded organisations.
Stating that the KRRS has planned to hold a massive farmer convention at Benglauru shortly, he said that the Convention will urge the Government to withdraw all the Bills, Laws and Acts that are against the interests of farmers, working class and the common man. He further said that the Convention will also deliberate on alternative economic models that will be of benefit for the common man. Farmer leaders Prasanna N.Gowda, Darshan Puttannaiah and Ravikiran Poonacha, KRRS office-bearers S.C. Madhusudhan, A.L. Kempoogowda and others were present.
