Farmers to lay siege to CM’s house on July 11

Mysore/Mysuru: Alleging that the Government has failed to address farmer issues and the problems of sugarcane growers, the KRRS (Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha) will lay siege to the residence of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai at Bengaluru on July 11.

Announcing this at a press meet here, KRRS President Badagalapura Nagendra accused the Government of failing to fulfill farmer demands such as fixation of FRP (Fair and Remunerative Price) for sugarcane at Rs.4,500 per ton, payment of arrears by sugarcane factories etc.

Claiming that Sugar factories are paying the farmers less than the FRP fixed by the Union Government, Nagendra said that the laying of siege to the CM’s house is aimed at drawing the attention of the Government to the plight of distraught farmers.

The farmers will converge at KSR Bangalore Railway Station (Majestic) at 11 am on July 11, from where they will march in a procession to the CM’s residence, he said.

KRRS office-bearers Hosur Kumar, P. Marankaiah, Hoskote Basavaraj, Saragur Nataraj, Prabhakar Anandur, Mandakalli Mahesh and others were present at the press meet.
