Mysuru: Mysuru South Rural Police, yesterday arrested a 38-year-old man for sexually assaulting his minor daughter besides torturing her physically.

The accused has been identified as Syed Arif, a resident of Bharat Nagar on Mahadevapura road, a labourer, who is residing with his two daughters, two sons and his wife.

Arif’s wife Fazila Kubra, who came to know about the heinous act by her husband on his own daughter, lodged a complaint at Mysuru South Rural Police Station on Friday, following which, Inspector Jayaprakash, registered a case under The Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO)  Act and arrested the accused yesterday.

In her complaint Fazila Kubra has stated that her husband Arfi had sexually assaulted their minor daughter and had tortured her physically.

The Mysuru South Rural Police, who arrested the accused produced him before the Magistrate at his residence, who has remanded the accused to judicial custody.
