Fight over tying cow with neighbours leads to tragedy
Nanjangud: A man suffered injuries, following a fight with his neighbours over tethering cows and was admitted to a hospital. Depressed over the incident, his son ended his life by hanging self later.
The tragic incident took place at Singaripura village in the taluk on Wednesday. A case has been registered at Kavalande Police Station. The deceased is Nagendra (18), son of Shankar. It is learnt that Shankar, who owned cows used to tie them near the house, only to face the wrath of his neighbours.
On Wednesday, Shankar’s neighbours Madegowda and Kullegowda, along with their children allegedly assaulted Shankar over the issue. Shankar’s wife Lakshmi and son Nagendra, along with a few villagers intervened and stopped the fight. They then admitted Shankar to Nanjangud Government Hospital for treatment.
Neighbours humiliate
Later, the neighbours, reportedly humiliated Nagendra in front of the house by saying that despite them assaulting his father, he (Nagendra) did not question them.
The neighbours insulted him further saying it was better he (Nagendra) dies rather than staying alive. Depressed over this, Nagendra ended his life, according to the complaint lodged by his mother Lakshmi.
FIR registered
Based on the complaint, Kavalande Police have registered a FIR against Madegowda, Kullegowda, Mahadeva, Shivamurthy, Krishna, Shankar, Mahadeva, Manoj and Mallikarjuna, who are currently absconding. Police have launched a search to nab them.
Post-mortem was conducted at Nanjangud Government Hospital and the body was handed over to the family members.
