FDP on ‘ARM Cortex M3 Microcontrollers’

Mysuru: The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of ATME College of Engineering, Mysuru, had organised a three-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘ARM Cortex M3 Microcontrollers,’ in association with ALS Bengaluru, recently.

It was sponsored by Institute of Electronics & Telecommunications Engineers (IETE), Mysuru.

Faculties form the various Engineering in and around Mysuru Zone participated in this FDP.

The workshop was co-ordinated by Chief Coordinator Dr. P.K. Mahesh (HoD), Convener Dr. L. Yathisha and Co-Conveners M. Girish and N. Harshitha (Asst. Professors) of Dept. of ECE, ATME with Dr. L. Basavaraj, Principal, ATME College of Engineering, Mysuru, as Organising Chair.

The resource persons were Sunil V. Shambatnavar, General Manager, Harish V. Mekali, Technical Consultant and K.S. Nandish, Senior Technical Support Engineer, ALS Bengaluru.

The workshop mainly focused on ARM cortex M3 Microcontrollers development along with how microcontrollers were  viewed with respect to industrial applications.

Sunil addressed the participants with different solutions available to accomplish embedded systems. Harish Mekali discussed overview of Microcontrollers and development in the field of ARM processors and different versions of ARM and ARM Cortex microcontrollers. Apart from this, the method of coding the M3 microcontroller in assembly language was introduced.

Lab sessions were conducted with main focus on the practical laboratory experiments as per the VTU CBCS syllabus.

All participants were provided with ARM Cortex M3 LPC1768 hardware boards. Also mini project ideas that can be incorporated in curriculum for the students were discussed.
