Deceased’s father urges Additional SP to initiate legal action against Biligere Sub-Inspector and staff
Mysore/Mysuru: A 22-year-old youth, fearing Police action, poured petrol and set himself on fire at Nagarle village in Nanjangud taluk on Nov. 12 night. Though he was rescued and admitted to K.R. Hospital, the youth succumbed to burn injuries at the hospital.
The deceased youth has been identified as Kiran Kumar, son of Raju of Nagarle village.
Kiran, who set himself ablaze, began to scream and his father, brother and villagers, who heard the screams, rushed to his help, rescued him and rushed to the Taluk Public Health Centre (PHC) in Nanjangud and was later shifted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru where he succumbed to burns.
On Sunday afternoon, Kiran had a fight with some youths from Saragur village and a complaint was lodged against Kiran and his friends at Biligere Police Station, following which Biligere Police summoned Kiran to the Police Station for questioning.
It is learnt that Kiran, who came out of the Police Station to answer nature’s call, came straight to Nagarle village late night where he created ruckus in front of a house, poured petrol on him and set himself ablaze in an attempt to end life.
Meanwhile, a resident of the house, who has lodged a complaint at Biligere Police Station has stated in the complaint that Kiran, who created ruckus in front of his house, poured petrol on himself and set himself on fire.
It is learnt that Kiran had served jail sentence in an attempt to murder case last year. After coming out of jail, Kiran used to do small works here and there and used to lead his life.
Meanwhile, Kiran’s father Raju, alleging that his son had committed suicide following assault from Biligere Police, has lodged a complaint with Additional SP Nandini.
Raju has stated that when he was taking his son Kiran to the hospital on Sunday night, he (Kiran) told him that the Police assaulted him in the Police Station and he had escaped from them. Fearing that the Police would assault him again if they catch him, he set himself on fire.
Raju has urged the Additional SP to initiate legal action against Biligere Sub-Inspector and staff.
