Mysuru: The three-day Basava Jayanti celebrations, organised jointly by the District Administration, Veerashaiva Mahasabha, Veerashaiva Associations and Basava Balagagala Okkuta, concluded on Sunday at Kalamandira here.
Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji and Sri Adhrushya Kadasiddeshwara Swamiji of Siddagiri graced the occasion.
Achievers Prashanth (Modern Agriculture), Madhumallesh (Education), M. Nikhilesh Mallikarjun (Social Service) and Dr. Manjappa Mahadevappa (Medicine) were felicitated on the occasion.
Presiding over the function, former Minister V. Somanna said that 884 years ago, Basavanna supported equality and voiced for a social reformation. He commended the support extended by Suttur Mutt in organising Basava Jayanti celebrations on a grand and meaningful note.
Former MLC Thontadarya, Okkuta President T.S. Lokesh, Basava Samithi President Basavaraj and others were present.
