Felicitation marks Environment Day celebrations at Rangayana

June 8, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: As part of World Environment Day celebrations, Rangayana had organised ‘Ranga Honnaru’ programme at Rangayana premises in city yesterday.

Speaking on this occasion, Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) – Mysuru Division, T. Heeralal, who was the chief guest for the event, stressed the importance of saving the environment for the benefit of humankind.

Two staff members of Rangayana, Brahmalingappa and Raju, who have been taking care of 300 saplings planted at Rangayana premises over the last one year were felicitated.

Two tree saplings planted earlier by noted actor Prakash Belawadi and Rangayana Mysuru Director Addanda C. Cariappa were named as ‘Parva’ and ‘Cauvery’ respectively on this occasion.

The CD of ‘Parva – Poorvaranga’ (Making of Parva), a documentary directed by noted Director P. Sheshadri on the making of a seven-hour mega theatre production of Rangayana ‘Parva’ — a theatre adaptation of noted novelist Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa’s work by the same name — was also released on the occasion.

Proprietor of Popular Pharmacy, Raghulal and Co., N. Raghavan, has donated 15 grocery kits to the staff of Rangayana, which will be later distributed to persons involved in sanitation and horticulture related works at Rangayana premises. Marking World Environment Day, these grocery kits were symbolically handed over to three staff members during the event.

Later, Addanda C. Cariappa addressed the gathering and said that the documentary ‘Parva – Poorvaranga’ will also be uploaded to Rangayana website for the benefit of theatre enthusiasts.

Rangayana Joint Director V.N. Mallikarjunaswamy, Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF) Dr. K.C. Prashanth Kumar, Deputy Range Forest Officer (DRFO) Chandrashekar, probationary Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Anusha and others were present during the programme.
