Mysuru: Veera Vanithe Rani Chennamma Swayam Seva Sangha had organised ‘Kittur Rani Chennamma Vijayotsava’ programme at VRC Auditorium on New Kantharaj Urs Road here on Sunday.
Inaugurating the programme, Mysore Palace ACP H.M. Chandrashekar opined that the history and valour of Rani Chennamma are an inspiration for today’s youth. He said Vijayotsava was popular in North Karnataka and expressed happiness that it is being celebrated in Mysuru also.
Writer Kusuma Ayarahalli said that not many youth today are aware of the history of Rani Chennamma and commended the Sangha in organising the event to educate the youngsters.
Following are the prize-winners in various contests held as part of the event:
Folklore – M. Prakyat, A. Sanvi, Shuban Gowri; Folk dance – U.R. Anushka, A. Sanvi, Yashaswini, Nikhita and H.M. Hema troupe; Elocution – U. Sheetal, M. Meghana, Vitesh Gowda; Yoga – Ankita and Usha troupe; Dhanushri and Soujanya; Premkumar and Kaveesh.
Drawing (4th to 7th std.) – Shreyas Joshi, M. Meghana, Litesh Gowda; High School – S. Jeethas, Vivek Chinmaya and Madhu.
Kannada Book Authority Chairman Dr. M.N. Nandish Hanche, Karnataka Folklore University Syndicate Member K. Vasanth Kumar and International Lingayat Youth Forum, Mysore wing Vice-President B.S. Prashanth were felicitated on the occasion.
