New Zealand scored a 74-44 win over Korea in the first match of the Division ‘A’ tie at Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium here on Monday.
Team New Zealand started strong with a big 25-13 lead in the first quarter. Team Korea couldn’t match the level of physical toughness shown by the New Zealand team. Charlisse Leger-Walker continued to impress with another strong performance and led all scorers with 17 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 assists while D. Lee scored 10 points for Korea.
In the second game Australia continued their winning streak by defeating Chinese Taipei 88-60. It was a competitive game between the two teams, but Australia never let the lead slip away from them. Team Australia had 5 players scoring in double digits and a double-double from Nnenna Agnes Emma-Nnopu with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
In another game, Japan scored a convincing 113-36 win over Hong Kong. In division ‘B’, India scored a 106-37 win over Nepal while Malaysia scored a 130-14 win over Maldives.
