Financial aid for beedi, cine, mine workers’ children

Mysuru: Applications have been invited for the grant of financial assistance to the children of Beedi, Cine, Limestone and Dolomite Mine workers for the academic year 2025-26, studying in Class I and above.

Every student must have an Aadhaar linked individual Savings Bank Account in any Nationalised/ Scheduled/ Co-operative/ Grameen/ Private Bank, having Core Banking System (CBS) and National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT) facilities.

The One-Time Registration (OTR) process is mandatory for submission of scholarship applications to benefit from the Ministry’s Scheme — Financial Assistance to the wards of Beedi, Cine and Non-Coal Mine Workers.

Aadhaar is mandatory for completing the OTR and payments will be disbursed exclusively through the Aadhaar Payment Bridge (APB) system and not via traditional bank account payments.

The application should be submitted online by all the applicants through scholarships.gov.in as per the guidelines available on the website. Active contribution of the Head of Educational Institutions is requested to carry out this benevolent task. They are to register their School/ College in the National Scholarship Portal scholarships.gov.in to scrutinise the applications submitted by the students, approve it and submit it online through their registered ID before the due date, failing which the applicant would not be eligible for scholarship and the Head of the institution would be held responsible for the same.

The scholarship applicant should also grant consent to the Welfare Commissioner regarding use of Aadhaar Number for availing the benefits under the scholarship scheme.

Income certificate and Beedi/ Cine ID Card (issued by the Ministry of Labour and Employment) must be uploaded along with the application.

Details of scholarship amount (for purchase of dress/books etc.) are as follows: Class I to IV – Rs. 1,000; V to VIII – Rs. 1,500; IX and X – Rs. 2,000; XI and XII – Rs. 3,000; ITI, Polytechnic & Degree Courses (including B.Sc Agriculture) – Rs. 6,000; Professional Courses – Rs. 25,000. Last date to submit applications online for Pre-Matric Scholarship is Aug. 31 and Post-Matric is Oct. 31.
