April 11, 2024

Mandya: Financial feud had led to a rowdy-sheeter being allegedly hacked to death on Ugadi festival day at Swarnasandra in Mandya.

The deceased has been identified as Akshay (24), a native of Chikkegowdanadoddi village, who was residing on Kempegowda Road of Anakere Street in the town. The prime accused is identified as Bharat, who along with others, committed the crime before absconding.

It is learnt that Akshay and Bharat were friends and Bharat’s mother had got a loan of Rs. 25,000 to Akshay’s mother from a private company. As Akshay’s mother had not repaid the loan, Bharat and his mother went to the house of Akshay’s mother at Chikkegowdanadoddi last February and demanded Akshay’s mother to repay the money.

Soon, wordy duel ensued between Bharat’s mother and Akshay’s mother and a fight also broke between Bharat and Akshay. As the fight continued, Bharat and his friends allegedly assaulted Akshay and his mother and a case was registered at Mandya East Police Station.

On the day of Ugadi festival (Apr. 9), Akshay, who came to Swarnasandra, was playing a game of cards when he came face-to-face with Bharat, during which Bharat and his friends hatched a plot to kill Akshay.

On the same day at about 11.30 pm, when Akshay was walking near the Arali Katte on Dasegowda Road, Bharat and his friends attacked Akshay and his friend Hemanth with lethal weapons, hacked Akshay to death and fled from the spot. Hemanth, who sustained serious injuries, has been admitted to MIMS Hospital.

Mandya East Police, who have registered a case in this regard, have launched a hunt to trace and nab all the accused involved in the murder.
