FIR against Minister Khader for luring voters with money

An FIR has been registered against Food and Civil Supplies Minister U.T. Khader for allegedly paying money to a person while canvassing for Congress candidate Geetha Mahadevaprasad in Gundlupet Assembly Constituency for the by-elections to be held on April 9.

Khader, who is also the Chamarajanagar District In-charge Minister, allegedly paid money to a person on Mar. 27 while he was campaigning in Gundlupet near the Congress party office. Even his car driver reportedly paid money to lure the voters.

Based on media reports that Khader and his driver violated the poll code of conduct, L. Suresh, a resident of Gundlupet approached the Court for influencing voters and violating the code of conduct.

The Court, on Mar. 28, ordered an FIR to be registered against Khader. Accordingly, an FIR (Case No. 145/17 IPC Col. 171 (B) (C) (E) and (F)) has been registered, according to a press release from Assistant Commissioner Nalin Atul, who is also the Election Officer.
