Fire personnel rescue injured eagle

Mysore/Mysuru: An eagle, which was injured, unable to fly and stuck atop a huge tree near the house of late R.K. Narayan in Yadavagiri was rescued by Fire and Emergency Services personnel yesterday.

Residents, who noticed the eagle struggling, informed Corporator Ravindra, who in turn informed Bannimantap Fire Station. The Fire personnel, who rushed to the spot in their rescue vehicle, used a ladder to reach atop the tree and rescued the injured eagle.

The eagle, which had built a nest atop the huge tree, had kept a piece of cloth in it which had got wrapped around its leg. Unable to unwrap the piece of cloth, the eagle was suffering since a few days and had also injured its leg while trying to free itself.

Fire personnel Dayanand, Vishwanath, Sunil Kumar and Manjunath took part in the rescue operation. 

The eagle is being treated by a Veterinarian and would be freed after it recovers, said Fire Station Officer Shivaswamy.
