First District Makkala Sahitya Sammelana tomorrow

Mysuru:  District Kannada Sahitya Parishat has organised the first District Makkala Sahitya Sammelana tomorrow at Kalamandira here which will feature seminar, interaction, book release and cultural programme all pertaining to children.

Disclosing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here yesterday, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna said that the event is aimed at creating awareness among children on Kannada language and literature. He further said that the programme will be chaired by Marimallappa PU College student M.N. Arjun.

Continuing, Dr. Rajanna said that at 8.30 am Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath will hoist the National flag while Department of Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H. Channappa will hoist the State flag and himself the Parishat flag. He further said that the Sammelana President will be brought in a procession from Freedom Fighter’s Park to Kalamandira at 9 am to be launched by ZP President Parimala Shyam.

The Kalamandira stage programme will be inaugurated by Film Director T.S. Nagabharana in the presence of Sri Datta Vijayananda Theertha Swamiji. District Minister V. Somanna will release the book ‘Munjavru’. MLA L. Nagendra will preside. Writer K. Rajkumar will deliver a lecture on ‘Kannada Arivu Mattu Abhimana’ to be followed by cultural programmes.

Children achievers H. Kushi (Yoga), S. Shashank (Sports) of Nanjangud, M. Sahitya (Essay) of Hunsur, Ruthwik C. Raj of city (Music), G. Darshan (Karate) of K.R. Nagar, Noor Suhani (Education) of Periyapatna, K. Deepaka (Art) of H.D. Kote, Kemparaju (Dance) of T. Narasipura together with child service organisation Jyoti Prashanth (Service to blind children), H.K. Ramnath (Suruchi Mane), K.V. Sowmya (Service to mentally retarded children), N. Venkoba Rao (Mythri organisation), Fazilhath (Ashiyana organisation) and Jamuna (Training Special Kids) will be felicitated on the occasion, explained Rajanna.

Former District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President M. Chandrashekar, office-bearers Rajashekar Kadamba and Mugur Nanjundaswamy were present during the press meet.
