Mysuru, July 27 (BCT)- At a special event for the field of occupational therapy, the Department of Occupational Therapy at Heritage City Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Mysuru, hosted the first-ever hands-on workshop on Hand Splinting under the banner of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS).
Hand splinting is a common therapeutic intervention used by occupational therapists, particularly for individuals with neurological conditions or injuries.
The workshop brought together nearly 120 participants, including students and professional delegates from across Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. Attendees gained hands-on experience in designing and fabricating various types of therapeutic hand splints under expert supervision.
The chief guests for the occasion were A.B. Ibrahim (retd. IAS) and Soudha Ibrahim, Trustee of the Heritage City Group of Institutions. Dr. D. Sridhar from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Udupi, served as the workshop’s resource person.
His in-depth practical session covered fabrication techniques, types of hand splints and their clinical applications, offering participants a comprehensive learning experience.
Faculty members and students were present in full strength. The workshop not only marked a milestone in practical training but also set a precedent for inter-institutional collaboration and innovation in occupational therapy education.
