First World Meditation Day celebrated: Meditation in family keeps home peaceful: BK Lakshmiji

Mysuru:  United Nations (UN) has recently announced Dec. 21 as the World Mediation Day to create awareness about meditation and its benefits to the mankind. It is also being celebrated for Internal Peace and Global Harmony.

Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, Sub-Zone Main Centre, celebrated the first ever World Meditation Day in city, in association with AYUSH Department, Yoga Foundation of Mysuru, Mysuru District Yoga Sports Foundation and several other organisations, at Open Air Theatre, Manasagangothri yesterday.

The event was flagged off at 5.30 am by Rajayogini BK Lakshmiji, Chief Convener of Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwriya Vishwa Vidyalaya. She spoke about the benefits of practicing meditation daily. “Mediation promotes positive thoughts, removes negativity and meditation involving family members ensures a peaceful atmosphere at home,” said Lakshmiji.

All the invitees and those others, who became a part of the 1st World Meditation Day celebrations, took a pledge that they will meditate daily and spread awareness about meditation.

Dr. Lakshminarayan Shenoy, Director, Govt. Ayurveda College Mysuru, Kiran, District Convenor of Sri Patanjali Yoga Shikshana Samste, Dr. Nagaraj  V. Bairy, International Director, Alliance Club, Dr. Ganesh Kumar, Secretary, Yoga Federation of Mysuru, Channakeshava, Art of Living and hundreds of meditation enthusiasts participated.
