Jayanth Kaikini likens life to snake and ladder
“Two variants of life are snake and ladder. While snake represents caste, community, cheating, betrayal and animosity, ladder represents literature, art, wisdom and knowledge,” opined Jayanth Kaikini, noted poet and lyricist working in Kannada cinema.
He was speaking after inaugurating the five-day Niranthara Ranga Utsava organised by Niranthara Foundation at Vanaranga in Rangayana premises here yesterday.
Jayanth Kaikini said that the people today are living in a strange society where cynicism and scepticism have crept into everyone’s mind. He added that to keep oneself away from the caste devil, one should think and judge in a rational angle and opined that events like Rangotsava would pave way in that context.
Speaking on the occasion, Senior theatrist and former Rangayana Director Chidambara Rao Jambe commended the Foundation for hosting Rangotsava without fail every year. He also sought a museum for theatre.
This year’s Niranthara Rangotsava is dedicated to Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.
A troupe from Dharwad presented the play ‘Baarigida’ last evening.
Rangayana Deputy Director Nirmala Mathapathi, Niranthara Foundation’s Prasad Kundoor and Deepak were present on the occasion.
Today, the play ‘Chekov To Champagne,’ directed by Chidambara Rao Jambe, will be staged by Rangayana-Dharwad team at 7 pm at Vanaranga.
