Mysuru: Renowned Kannada Film Director S.V. Rajendra Singh Babu said, the proposed Film City project at Immavu in Nanjangud taluk in the district, is a long pending dream that is set to become a reality. Priority will be given towards incorporating modern features suiting the                                         demands of technology, to make the facility relevant.

Addressing media persons at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in city on Friday, Babu said, the Government has acceded to the demand of film fraternity to develop a Film City. It was a five-year struggle that is set to bear fruits, with CM Siddaramaiah directing Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) to hand over the land earmarked for the project to the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).

Unlike his predecessors, Siddaramaiah as a CM has made it possible. If the Film City is developed during the tenure of Siddaramaiah, our dream will come into fruition. Otherwise, it will remain a pipedream, for the next generation too, said Babu.

For the last 10 years, Film City project was restricted to publicity and largely remained on papers. However, it is inevitable in the interest of further growth of Kannada film industry.

Apart from incorporating features aiding modern technology, the Film City should contribute to the development of tourism. The Government should think accordingly, as the city was earlier a hub of film shooting. Besides, Housing Society should also be formed on the lines of Hollywood and Bollywood, said Babu.

President of Kannada Film Chamber of Commerce (KaFCC) Krishnegowda spoke on ‘MeToo’ issue and said, some are indulging in baseless allegations for publicity. If there is any truth related to casting couch, Kannada film industry will support the victims. Actor couple Jai Jagadish and Vijayalakshmi Singh were present.
