Flags atop 2,925 polling booths to attract voters

April 21, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra inaugurated a three-day programme aimed at flag hoisting with the slogan “Namma Nade Mathagatteya Kade” (our path leads to polling booth) across polling stations in the Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha Constituency. The initiative aims to encourage a higher voter turnout on polling day which falls on Apr. 26.

Addressing the gathering at Jnanaganga School in Kuvempunagar this morning, Dr. Rajendra, also the District Electoral Officer (DEO), stated, “Flags will be raised at all 2,925 polling stations within the Mysuru-Kodagu LS Constituency. Polling officers will visit each booth under their jurisdiction to raise awareness. Participation in the election is crucial for a democratic system, often hailed as the greatest festival of democracy.”

To ensure a seamless voting experience, essential amenities such as drinking water and restroom facilities are being provided at the polling stations. Additionally, wheelchair accessibility is arranged for elderly and physically disabled voters.

With a queue management app, separate lines for voters are being arranged to minimise disruption. Additionally, polling stations with over three booths will feature a dedicated voter assistance booth for convenience.

Highlighting the importance of voter awareness, the DC stressed that this duty extends beyond government officers; it’s crucial for young individuals and the public to actively promote voting’s significance and encourage participation in  their communities.

K.M. Gayathri, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zilla Panchayat and Chairman of the District Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Committee, administered the oath to the gathering.

Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner Dr. N.N. Madhu, Election Ambassador Tanishka Murthy, paraathlete M. Mahendra and other district-level officers were present.
