Focus is on visitor comfort and safety: KEA Chairman Ayub Khan

Mysuru: This year’s Dasara Exhibition has been given a new look, with several attractions being offered free of cost to visitors. These include performances by Army and Navy bands, the Dasara Universe pavilion, a Disneyland-style photo zone, stalls showcasing various Government departments and a wide range of food stalls.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) Chairman Ayub Khan said preparations for the exhibition were nearing completion.

A few stalls and toilet facilities are still under construction, with the remaining work expected to be completed shortly. The arrangements will be tested before all facilities are made available to the public. Stall allotments are also being finalised.

Last year, visitors faced traffic congestion, overcrowding, poor lighting and muddy grounds. This time, the focus has been on improving basic infrastructure. Roads have been developed, concrete and asphalt pathways laid and tiles installed to make movement easier for visitors.

Around 90% of the road work has been completed, with the remaining work expected to be finished soon. Measures have also been taken to keep the grounds dust-free & improve movement for vehicles and pedestrians.

New emergency exit gate

A new gate is being planned on the M.G. Road side of the grounds to serve as an emergency exit. With the entertainment section drawing large crowds, wider exits are necessary to facilitate quick evacuation during emergencies.

Work on the gate has begun but has been delayed by some hurdles. Its construction and lock system will be completed shortly, Ayub Khan said.
