Food delivery boy killed in Madikeri accident Vehicle traced, driver arrested

Madikeri: Madikeri Town Traffic Police have arrested the driver of the vehicle, who had hit the bike of a food delivery boy near Chain Gate in the town on Friday and had sped away.

The Traffic Police, who had registered a case, collected footages from CCTV cameras installed near the accident spot and arrested the accused on Saturday morning besides seizing the vehicle.

The arrested driver is 24-year-old Nischith alias Ambli, a resident of Hebbettageri. He was ferrying tourists to Mandalpatti in the vehicle, when he hit the bike of Thimmaiah Tejas, who was on his way to deliver food to a customer. During interrogation, the Police came to know that Nischith does not have Driving Licence (DL) and have registered a ‘Hit and Run’ case against him.

The deceased food delivery boy is identified as Thimmaiah Tejas, a native of Mysuru, who was residing at Kushalnagar and working as a food delivery boy in Madikeri. He had sustained serious injuries in the accident and succumbed to injuries at Madikeri General Hospital.
