Footpath encroachment clearance drive: 53 cases booked, 60 notices issued, Rs. 8,500 fine collected in three days

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru City Traffic Police, continuing their drive against footpath encroachers, conducted drives on Aug. 12, 13 and 14 across city and have booked a total of 53 cases, besides issuing 60 notices and collecting a total of Rs. 8,500 as fines in three days.

On Aug. 12, Devaraja, Krishnaraja (KR), Narasimharaja (NR), Siddarthanagar and V.V. Puram Traffic Police, who conducted the footpath clearance drives on Chandragupta Road, Nrupatunga Road, Kabir Road, Rajkumar Road and Hootagalli Road, booked 27 cases under Karnataka Police Act (KPA) and five cases under Indian Motor Vehicle Act (IMVA) besides issuing 28 notices and collecting Rs. 5,000 as spot fines.

On Aug. 13, the drives were conducted at Boti Bazar, on Narayana Shastri Road, Kabir Road, Male Mahadeshwara Road and Hinkal Road during which the Traffic Police personnel registered 11 cases under KPA and three cases under IMVA besides issuing 21 notices and collecting Rs. 3,000 as fines.

On Aug. 14, the encroachment clearance drives were held on Saraswathipuram 1st Main Road, Rajkumar Road, Triveni Circle and Hinkal Main Road. During the drives, two cases were registered under KPA and five under IMVA besides issuing 11 notices and collecting Rs. 500 as fines.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) M.S. Geetha Prasanna and ACP (Traffic) S.E. Gangadharswamy supervised Inspectors and staff of all Traffic Police Stations in the drives.
