Chamarajanagar: Following the fatal shootout involving three suspected poachers at the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, the Chamarajanagar District Administration has stepped up security around key Forest Department offices.

The move follows the vandalisation of the Forest Department office at Shagya in Hanur taluk by agitated villagers, prompting authorities to anticipate possible attacks on other Government establishments.

Senior Police officials rushed to the Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) office in Chamarajanagar and took charge of  security arrangements.

Sub-Inspectors Siddaiah of Chamarajanagar Rural Police Station and Mohan Kumar of Santhemaralli Police Station, along with ASIs Lokesh and Nagaraju and other personnel, have been deployed at the premises.

The office compound has been secured with a heavy Police presence, with visitors and vehicles being subjected to checks before entry.
