Mysuru:  Former National-level athlete Dhanraj (54) passed away last night due to cardiac arrest at his residence in Gorur, Mysuru.

Dhanraj, a former University of Mysore athlete who had represented the University in the All India-level and the State in the National-level in 400m had served as Hon. Secretary of Mysore District Athletic Association (MDAA) and also served in many capacities in the District and State in promoting athletics.

He leaves behind his wife Umavathi, daughter Keerthi and a host of relatives and friends. He belonged to the business family of HNK Gowda & Sons, Ashoka Road, Mysuru.

Condoled: MDAA office-bearers, Mysore University Sports persons Alumni Association and athletes have condoled his demise. Cremation took place at the foot of Chamundi Hill today.
