Former Corporator’s brother’s murder case: Four arrested, Court hands over accused to Police custody for seven days

Mysore/Mysuru: City Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths yesterday arrested four persons accused of murdering Hafiz Mohammed Akmal, brother of former Corporator Ayaz Pasha on Mar. 8 evening.

The four accused had waylaid Akmal, who was riding a scooter near a bakery in Rajivnagar 2nd Stage and had hacked him to death before absconding.

The accused have been identified as Basheer Ahmed, Ilyas, Parvez and Imran, all from Udayagiri in city.

The accused, irked over removal of flex and due to old enmity, had allegedly hacked Akmal to death with lethal weapons and were absconding.

A case was registered by Udayagiri Police, which was later transferred to CCB Police.

CCB Inspector Poovaiah, Sub-Inspectors K. Lepaksha, Maruthi and staff, who conducted a search operation under the guidance of City Police Commissioner B. Ramesh, Depury Commissioners of Police (DCPs) M. Muthuraj (Law and Order) and S. Jahnavi (Crime and Traffic) and CCB Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sandeshkumar, arrested the four accused near Varuna Canal close to the Ring Road yesterday.

After conducting preliminary interrogation, the CCB Police produced the four accused before a Magistrate yesterday afternoon and had urged the Magistrate to hand over the accused to Police custody for further questioning following which the Magistrate handed over the four accused to Police custody for seven days.
