April 10, 2022

Prof. P.V. Nanjaraj Urs’ book ‘Tipu – Maanyate Sigada Sultana’ released

Mysore/Mysuru: Bemoaning that emotional issues are being brought to the fore in a bid to hide real issues that are haunting the country, former Karnataka High Court Judge Justice H.N. Nagamohandas stressed on the need for bringing life and livelihood issues to the fore and to create everlasting harmony and peace among communities and religions.

He was speaking after releasing Prof. P.V. Nanjaraj Urs’ Kannada work titled  Tipu – Maanyate Sigada Sultana at a programme organised under the joint aegis of Abhiruchi Prakashana and Bharatiya  Vidyarthi Sangha (BVS) at University of Mysore’s B.M. Shri Auditorium in Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS) premises, Manasagangothri here yesterday.

Regretting that emotional issues such as Love Jihad, Hijab, Halal, Azaan etc., have come to the fore, Justice (retd.) Nagamohandas said, it is distressing to note that real issues such as food, jobs, health, livelihood etc., are being relegated to the background.

Cautioning against rampant corruption, casteisim and communal in electoral politics, he warned that the country will disintegrate if unity, peace and harmony gets destroyed.

Former University of Mysore faculty Prof. Maheshchandra Guru, who spoke about the book, said that Tipu Sultan was a knowledgeful ruler. Pointing out that though Tipu’s father    Hyder Ali was less educated, he ensured that his son grew with sound education.

Contending  that both Hyder Ali and Tipu maintained a good relationship with Mysuru rulers, he said that no one can deny the fact that Tipu fought the British till his last breath.
