Former Indian opener V.B. Chandrasekhar commits suicide

Former Indian opener and National Selector V.B. Chandrasekhar committed suicide at his Mylapore residence yesterday. He was 57.

Sources said that his body was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his bedroom.

According to the Police, Chandrasekhar’s wife knocked the door of his bedroom and there was no response. Then she peeped through the window and found him hanging.

VB, owner of VB Kanchi Veerans in the ongoing TNPL League, is survived by his wife and two daughters. He had played seven ODIs between 1988 and 1990. He also held the record for fastest century in Irani Trophy in just 56 balls.

It is said that Chandrasekhar was in depression as he incurred losses in his cricket-related business. His body was shifted to Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem.
