Former KIKS faculty H.K. Rajegowda passes away

Mysore/Mysuru: H.K. Rajegowda (83),  veteran writer and a retired senior faculty of University of Mysore’s  Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS), passed away here yesterday following brief illness.

A resident of Saraswathipuram, he leaves behind his son Dineshchandra, daughter Chetana, son-in-law K.T. Balakrishna, an IPS officer, who had served as Mysuru Police Commissioner and a host of relatives and friends.

H.K. Rajegowda had also served as a Special Officer at Bengaluru’s NGEF. As a writer, he has over 60  works to his credit and had bagged many awards and prizes, including Geeshampa Folk Award, Chunchashri Award, M.L. Srikantegowda Research prize, Vishwamanava Award, Karnataka Janapada Academy Award and H.D. Chowdaiah Literary Award. 

Last rites were performed at his native village Hanumanahalli in Nagamangala taluk of Mandya district this afternoon.
