Former Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences Director Dr. H.T. Chidananda passes away

Mysuru: Dr. H.T. Chidananda (70), former Dean and Director of Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) and Shimoga Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), passed away at his residence in Kuvempunagar here yesterday following a heart attack.

He is survived by his advocate wife T. Hemavathi, a former MCC Corporator, sons Dr. Ravi and Chandru and a host of relatives and friends.

Dr. Chidananda complained of severe chest pain at about 12.10 pm and was being shifted to a hospital when he breathed his last, according to family sources.

Body donated

His body was donated to MMC&RI as per his wish.

An alumnus of Mysore Medical College, he served as the Head of Pathology Department at the same College later and thereafter as Dean and Director of MIMS and SIMS.

At present, he was serving as a faculty of Pathology Department at a Medical College in Kozhikode, Kerala.

Currently, he was translating his Kannada work “Charbi Oota – Hrudaya Spota’ to English.

An art-lover, Dr. Chidananda was also a writer who wrote a few books on Medical topics and had turned the first floor of his house into an art gallery, according to Mysuru District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna.

Many dignitaries including JD(S) State President A.H. Vishwanath paid their last respects to the departed soul.
