Former Mayor bats for free education till SSLC

Mysuru: Former Mayor S. Satish (Sandesh Swamy) has demanded free education for all till SSLC, in private and aided educational institutions.

In a press release, Sandesh Swamy said that this year’s PUC and SSLC results point to the fact that Government Schools, Kannada Medium Schools and children from rural areas have fared better compared to previous years, while at the same time the result in urban Private Schools have dipped. “This shows that rural and poor students studying in Government Schools are no inferior compared to their urban counterparts. The only thing is that they should get free education to achieve big in life. With donation menace rampant in private educational institutions, the parents of poor children cannot afford to send their children to prestigious institutions, which charge very high fees,” he added.

In an effort to end discrimination and disparity in education, the Government should provide free education for all up to SSLC (10th standard) in Government, aided and unaided private educational institutions, which will ensure equal education for everyone, like in the USA and other western countries, the release said.
