Former Mayor seeks legal action against UoM Physical Education Department faculty

Mysore/Mysuru: Accusing Dr. C. Venkatesh, Associate Professor of Physical Education Department, University of Mysore (UoM), of allegedly harassing his colleague Dr. S. Madialagan, former Mayor Purushotham has demanded legal action against Venkatesh.

Addressing a press meet here yesterday, Purushotham claimed that Madialagan suffered a minor heart attack on Feb.15 due to harassment and caste abuse  by Venkatesh and was admitted at Jayadeva Hospital. Venkatesh, who visited the Hospital a week later on Feb.22, abused and assaulted Madialagan’s wife Ramani after she refused to allow him to see her husband, following which she lodged a complaint at V.V. Puram Police Station. Ramani also complained to the State Women’s Commission, the UoM authorities, the Governor and the District Minister, he said.

Purushotham charged Venkatesh of targeting SC students academically and also encouraging groupism in the PE Department. The former Mayor urged the UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar to sack Venkatesh and also warned of launching a protest if Venkatesh was not dismissed.
