Maddur: Former Maddur MLA Jayavani Manchegowda (91), wife of late former MLA M. Manchegowda,  passed away at her residence in Maddur town on Friday due to age-related illness. She is survived by three sons Dr. M. Maheshchand, a former MLA, M. Swarupchand and Prafulchand, three daughters and a host of relatives and friends.

Jayavani was elected from Maddur Assembly segment in the by-polls held in 1984 following the demise of her husband Manchegowda, who was elected from the constituency in the 1983 assembly polls. She had also served as the President of M.H.Channegowda Educational Institutions at Maddur.

Her last rites were performed at Maddur this afternoon, according to family sources.
