Former MLA to stage protest against Ramdas

Mysore/Mysuru: Accusing sitting  K.R. BJP MLA S.A.Ramdas of stalling construction of houses for the poor, former MLA and Congress leader M.K. Somashekhar said that  he would stage a demonstration against Ramdas in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here at 10.30 am tomorrow (Feb.7).

Addressing a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here this morning, Somashekhar said that he had taken great pains for constructing houses for the poor under ‘Ashraya scheme and Slum Development Board Housing Scheme,’ when he was the MLA earlier.

Maintaining that he had readied the proposal for construction of 1,344 houses in 3.5 acre of land at Malalawadi (part of Jayanagar)and 868 houses in 1.5 acre of land at Vishweswaranagar, Somashekhar alleged that the current MLA Ramdas was stalling the construction of these houses for reasons best known to him.

Accusing Ramdas of threatening the contractor who has come forward to execute this housing project, he claimed that Ramdas had also stalled the tender process for construction of 1,440 houses at Lalitadripura and 1,644 houses at Gorur under Rajiv Gandhi Housing scheme.

Lashing out at Ramdas for stalling construction of houses meant for the poor out of political animosity, Somashekhar warned of intensifying his protest if the works on construction of houses do not begin in a fortnight.

Corporator Lokesh Piya, former Corporator Sunil, Congress leader Gunasekhar and others were present at the press meet.
