Former Municipal Councillor’s wife abducted

K.R. Pet: A former Municipal Counsellor’s wife is said to have been abducted in broad daylight last evening in the town.

The victim is Gayatramma, wife of former  Municipal Councillor Raju and a resident of Hosaholalu in the taluk.

Gayatramma, working as an Assistant at the Anganawadi Centre in Hemavathi Complex in Jayanagar Extension here, after work was said to be waiting for an autorickshaw to go home in Hosaholalu.

At that time, a few miscreants were said to have arrived and abducted Gayatramma, according to a complaint lodged by her husband Raju with the town Police.

Raju had reportedly staged a protest in front of the Sub-Registrar’s office here on Thursday alleging that a few influential persons were trying to grab a two acre land worth crores of rupees for a paltry sum said to be belonging to descendants of founders of Maramma Temple in Hosaholalu. Police suspect that the adduction could be in retaliation to that protest.

K.R. Pet Police Sub-Inspector H.S. Venkatesh and staff have begun the investigation to track the culprits based on the location of mobile network towers.

In the meanwhile, hundreds of resident of Hosaholalu are said to be protesting in front of the Town Police Station urging the Police to rescue Gayatramma safely soon.
