Former Music Varsity Syndicate member demands action against Registrar

Mysuru: Karnataka State Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University former Syndicate member C.R. Himanshu, who is also the main promoter of Vontikoppal Eighth Cross Ganapathi Festival musical events, has urged the Government to initiate action against the University Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. R. Rajesh on charges of committing irregularities.

In a letter addressed to the Principal Secretary of the Higher Education Department (Universities), Himanshu regretted that a probe has not been ordered even after ten months of complaint.

Maintaining that Prof. R. Rajesh is a Sociology Professor who has no knowledge of music and arts, he said that even the varsity students had complained against Prof. Rajesh accusing him of not conducting theory and practical exams on time.

Also, the University suffered on all fronts, with Prof. Rajesh at the helm of affairs. As nothing much can be expected of Prof. Rajesh, the Government must relieve him of his duties as Registrar (evaluation) with immediate effect and replace him with an eminent scholar who has good knowledge of Music and Arts and thus ensure that the University academic schedules go on smoothly, the letter said.
